Editorial @ Meta
Meta Blueprint offers dynamic education content that helps millions of people use Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp for their businesses.
Here’s what I did as Editorial Lead for Meta:
Led a 5-person team to develop high-quality content at scale, following style guides and editorial best practices.
Supported the development of more than 100 tutorials, online courses and in-person trainings, 8 paid certifications, and more.
Revised web content through all writing and production stages, from storyboarding to final publication.
Collaborated with creative, product, and marketing teams to scope projects and extend editorial support appropriately.
Created a system to field editorial requests and capture all required information for my team up front.
Managed editors, prioritized requests, anticipated future projects, and overall maximized team efficiency.
Meta Blueprint education
My actions
To gather data, I created a rubric for evaluating drafts, which highlighted areas where we could add support.
I created a weekly schedule for my team to publish relevant tips and resources about quality and style guidance.
To address knowledge gaps, I scheduled workshops on common errors with clear examples based on real content.
I led brainstorms with partners in creative and instructional design to integrate feedback and refine content templates.
My impact
As editorial lead, I strengthened the team’s writing skills by increasing awareness of content standards and revising content with creators through substantive edits, copy edits and final proofreading checks.
Through creative solutions and processes, I solved recurring resource, time management and content development issues.
These efforts resulted in content quality increases and editorial timeline decreases.
Additionally, I delivered streamlined templates with built-in editorial guidance, reducing overall content production time and costs for the whole Blueprint team, further improving internal and cross-functional team dynamics.
Meta brand alignment
My actions
After Facebook became Meta, I led a massive content rebrand. I liaised with legal, marketing, and other teams to source guidance and best practices, identify high-priority content, and create plans for updating other content.
I optimized the brand review process by defining guidelines and changing the submission model. I also added a quality check into the publication process to ensure all new material reflected the latest voice and tone standards.
I trained content developers to use the internal resources and terminology tools to boost content quality.
My impact
My Meta rebrand publishing plan provided the business education team with a strategy to complete brand-compliant content updates to thousands of public materials, all medium- and high-priority content, across the entire suite of help and education products in only 12 months.
I reduced my entire team’s brand review timeline from a week to typically just a few hours, which led to significantly reduced operational expenses. This effort also built trust and a better cross-functional dynamic between legal and brand marketing teams.
In partnership with ERG leads and other content teams, I helped to build, develop and launch Meta’s first inclusivity and accessibility-focused terminology dictionary with an internal tool.
The brand content standards trainings and the new terminology project had team-wide and company-wide impact, as the Blueprint team and other global teams could now create more inclusive, accessible content at scale.
